Central Locking / Hazard Buttons

Hi all relatively New here as I just purchase (07-23) a '04 x5 4.4 with 8600 miles on it. Has PDC, Rear Air, Navi, DSP, Sport Prem Packages, Pana Roof (Gray / black).

Anyway both by Central locking and hazard button appears to be gummed up. Not sure if the previous own spilled something in there or not but its difficult to press. Does anyone know if this is a known issue with these buttons and is it a easy replacement? I'm game to do it but not sure where to start. I'm sure if BMW gets a hold of it, it will be considered "outside of warranty" as they seem to like that response.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Probably just a spill. You should be able to pop them out by taking the ash tray out and getting behind them and pushing. Sorry I have never tried it but if that doesn't work you would have to either pry them or take out the console which would seem a bit overkill. Our 02 had this same problem due to a juice spill and I just squirted some glass cleaner in there and pushed the buttons a lot. I was in a rush or might of tried a bit harder. I also may be thinking of the e39 so it might not be as easy to pop the buttons out of the X? Either way I doubt you will need to replace them.

With that low mileage the dealer should be able to fix it for free. Is your X a CPO? I had a problem with my homelink button as I pushed them too hard and it broke. The delaer fixed it no questions asked.

Wow, such strong digit strength. Good thing you don't do rectal exams!

No Its not a CPOwas not that concerned about getting a CPO since it only had 8600 miles on it and was still under the factory warranty.
