simple procedure.. same for both...

drain plug on the bottom, fill plug on the side...
remove fill plug first, then drain plug (allows for air to enter and remove vacuum effect.) when all oil is out, put the draing plug with new crush washer back in and torque. then put new fluid in the side fill plug hole. will need a pump to get the new fluid in... not much to it...

Yep, the main concern was which plug to fill up with. What weight to use for tranny and diffy?

Tranny Fluid

Whoa! I was at Inskip BMW the other day and discussed the fuild situation with the service writter, he confirmed what I thought that I read in the owners manuel that the fuild was a "lifetime" set up and never needed to be changed. Did I misunderstand? Is this reffering to a 100K change or something?

Can someone clarify?

Thx,
Roc

yes, bmw uses "lifetime" fluid. meaning under normal circumstances the fluid will still lubricate the gears through a "lifetime" of ownership - whatever that means... if bmw can specifically state the circumstances then i'll listen...

there are no adverse affects of changing the fluids if you do it correctly...
