i got 6000ks. i would like to upgrade my AEs but that's another whole story...for now, i can be satisfied with even just changing my lowbeams.

i have dropped a few screws before...but that is my main concern for sure. i'm just going over how to do it in my head all morning long now since i'm at work and can't wait to get on it when i get home.

did you take out the battery on the driver side? i have an allen wrench but its like a screwdriver that you can change tips. did you use a special tool to get it done?

I'd love to see pics when you are done. Where did you get the replacement bulbs and how much were they? Are the daytime running lights the H7 bulbs or some other model? I have an 05 so I am guessing the 04 will be the same.

Thanks,

Rob

2004 X5 headlamp replacement

I've Googled X5 headlamp replacement and came across this website hoping it would help, but I still haven't seen an answer? I've read the BMW manual (which I think is a joke on headlamp bulb replacement) and I'm able to take the 2" cover off, but how the heck are you supposed to get access to the lowbeam bulb when the coolant tank is blocking the way and it's near impossible to get your two fingers on the bulb let alone twist? Someone suggested I unbolt the coolant tank, but there must be an easier solution to bulb replacement?

Any assistance would be dearly appreciated as I've been running on one headlamp for the past month and it's getting awfully dark here in Vancouver during the morning and late afternoon.

Thanks in advance!
