Sirius module not registering...
My 05 X5 had a terrible sirius module (The infamous generation II) and after doing much research, I decided to go find a gen 1 sirius module. I went ahead and took out the gen 2 module and replaced it with the gen 1 from my e46 (worked perfectly after replacing the gen 2 in it). Now when I try to switch over, I hit the mode button once, and it goes to tape (usual) and then I hit the mode button again. Instead of going to sirius, it stays on tape and nothing happens until you hit the mode button again and it goes to FM... I have checked the fuse, 3pin and 6pin and they are all working fine. My car was built in 5/2005, and I was wondering if I needed a new radio module to suppor the gen 1 sirius module, or could it be anything else??
For the newbs: Generation 1 Sirius module was too powerful, it interfeared with the signal in other cars. Generation 2 was then "turned down" but way too much so it cut in and out a lot and lost signal quite frequently. Generation 3 is the newest out and is suppose to be decent, but not as strong as Gen 1. |

part numbers and Gen 1 has two plugs for the antenna, a terestrial and a satelite plug (Hence why it is strongest).
