Alarm System Question

What conditions will set off the factory alarm and how can you tell what caused it if there are multiple answers to the first part of this question?

Currently troubleshooting a nasty neighbor problem that involves, keys, scratches, and I just caught him outside near my car because I heard the alarm going off....

Any help would be appreciated. I've also just installed a security camera and will soon have proof of what is occuring. (Initial security cam pic attached).

Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy,

Some kids over the road from me would sometimes give my X5 a quick KICK setting of the alarm .

I have known some systems to be very sensitive though, to the effect of a bird setting off from the hood is enough to set them off.

Anything on the camera yet?

nothing on camera yet. I just got the system installed yesterday afternoon and had to fix a night vision issue today. I'm hoping to catch something soon!

Long story short, a guy that lives in the duplex next to my condo building came out one night and told me that I was parking on his property. My parking lot runs along his property line and I pull up as close as possible to ensure people have room to get by my back end. Needless to say, he is mad that I pull my bumper past the concrete tire stop because it sticks over my parking lot slab into his yard (which consists of an area of dirt that is about 1 ft wide from my parking lot slab and his duplex wall. Not to mention there is a wooded up window well right were I park). When he confronted me about it, I said sorry and that I didnt realize he was cultivating something in that dirt or that I was blocking his use from it. He asserted that he has to walk through my parking lot as a result of the way I park because he cant get past my front end. I then reminded him he has a paved walkway on the other side of his house that goes to his parking area in the back of his building and that maybe he'd be safer using that. Fast forward one month and I have so many scratches across my hood and fenders that go as deep as metal (not buffable) and the whole front end will likely need painted now.

WOW.... that was long winded

Anyhow, I actually have done a little research and found that he rents his duplex and furthermore, I found the property lines actually lay in my favor. Technically, his property line is nearly his wall and my complex owns everything up to his wall. Now I need the proof he's doing it and I'll be getting a paint job.

Good luck with all that. Maybe you should contact the property owner?

When I filed my police report for vandalism, the officer told me to hold of notifying anyone until I have proof of what is occuring. At that point, both the property owner and the renter will be able to be held responsible. Fingers crossed I catch them on camera.

wow, I dont know what I would do - I dont think I could wait for proof, I'd want to @#@$ him up. LOL.

Make him pay for a new hood! He should pay for his ignorance, good luck. let us know when u get proof and the outcome.

good luck with that, I hope you catch the guy. It's usually not a matter of the damage it's just the idea that some a**hole is doing it, especially when he is in the wrong. If he does it again may I suggest fireworks at 2 am?
