Not to rain on the GB but we have running boards available for $270 for the E53. They are in stock and do not require waiting for a number of buyers.

A little competition never hurts. However these are not the same as the GB, they are an even more contrived version of the OEM that do not include the x5 etched on them. They are a much smaller and more simplified version of the GB. The JLevis replicas also have exposed drilled holes that collect dirt, mud, ice etc.

jlevi's running boards are nice but the design is what i have a problem with. Its like having small tea cups where water and other dirt resides. While on the GB item, they look better and close to OEM, however my problem is illustrated below. Also, OEM sticking out further is not that much of a difference IMO and it just doesnt bother me at all. I have seen both in person and i guess bottomline is, it depends on one's taste and preference. Yes, OEM is an expensive route but every angle would not bother me.

Definitely two different styles, depends on what you want as you said. Can't go wrong either way IMO, just offering an alternate solution

The strongest would be OEM. the replica running boards from bavarian soundwerks are as strong as the current platform on the X5 without running boards. the oem is wider too.
