Run a blue book value check. Not sure how prices are in Canada but in the US you couldn't move a used SUV with a dump truck. They just aren't selling well on the auction market.

IMO, a buyer from the US would be silly buying the 'out of country' SUV simply because there are a ton for sale in the states. Unless the deal was just insanely cheap.

I think you should be asking $35 k CDN, and accepting something less than that. Dealer may give you $32 k on a trade. 4.4 values (pre-valvetronic) are not going to hold very well. Countering that, you have a CPO warranty, so make sure you promote it as such.

No duties between Canada and US (North-American built vehicle). Some tax issues, but they should be for the buyer, not the seller. Wouldn't think you have a market in the US for this, given where the dollar exchange rate is.

our '04 3.0 was $30000 all in from the US. the 4.4's were only 1-2000 more.

Since an '03 was before he '04 make over i would think you would have to sell it in the mid to high 20's, unless you can find a sucker...

P Diddy huh?

In the U.S., there seems to be more people (or maybe it's just dealers) using Galves.com for determining used car values rather than Kelley Blue Book.

Your US price is lower because a non-Canadian car will be worth less on trade in as well. A Canadian '03 3.0 with options will go for 30 k at that mileage, several thousand more for a 4.4. I got 30 k on a dealer trade (after negotiating best price) for my 3.0 several months ago, and that matched the Autotrader prices. I don't agree that a 4.4 is only worth in the '20s, unless it has a problem or is a US car with no warranty. Remember that the OP has an extended warranty for another 40 k.

Yup, the 4.4's i speak of had warranty as well.
There are guys that go directly to the auctions and get BMWFS vehicles. these are the same auctions that dealers and used car lots go to. you save a few thousand doing it this way.

of course, if someone wants to pay more for a Canadian spec car, the more power to them. all the things you need to 'Canadianize' the car can be programmed for 1/2 labour.

Call me cheap, but i got the exact same car and paid thousands less. More money for motorcycles that way!

we got ours in November, prices have fallen another grand or two since then. if trade in is a worry, don't trade it in!
