Just had a look at my car - and your damamge is to the sub frame.

It looks as though you can get hold of these (part number 1):

I think for the amount of hastle involved in fitting just the sub frame (i.e. stripping everything out and fitting new bushes to the new frame etc etc), you'd be better off finding somewhere thats breaking an X5 and get the subframe complete.
And looking at the front wheels, there is a significant amount of damage to the front sub frame as well.

This is almost an insurance write-off.

Sadly I have 3rd party F&T on it, so I'm picking up the bill on it, or as you suggest....scrapping it...

Not good.

RR, I'm sorry to hear and not so happy to see... However, like others have said, you can always weld up the sub frame, replace brackets, and joints... Hard to tell the full extent from the pictures, but I've seen worse.

Good Luck though RR, keep us posted.

However hopefully to cheer you up, I have and do use my X5 off the road... It was actually a lot more fun than these pics look.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll be getting it towed to a BMW garage soon to get the full extent of the damage, and will post the results.

I am not keen on using a breakers for parts, however, I never inteneded in selling the car on, so, a sub frame from a breakers could be an option, however, obviously a BMW dealer won't do that!

That said welding the subframe is an optiton too, however when the car has an MOT/NCT/Control Technique, who knows if it will pass we will see?
