I have winter experience with the Pirelli Scorpion Snow and Ice tires on 18's. I am very happy with them. They are priced very well. Might be worth a look: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....1=yes&place=36

I will add that even on the highway and curvey roads, they do very well. Nice feeling on the turns and not that noisy like many winter tires.

I was thinking about getting these in 275/40/20 and buying two extra front rims to use on the rear. I have the stock 4.6 rims that came with my X in my basement since I put the chromes on. Does anyone know if the front rims will fit on the back? I came to the conclusion last year that a dedicated hard core winter tire on 18's are not necessary on my 4.6 since we only see snow a handful of times a year(NY). If I need the 18's for some blizzard, I can slap 'em on since I already have them.

Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires are great. Got a set last November and gave them plenty of testing during a 12" snow storm on un-plowed roads. NO PROBLEM at all. In fact it was a test for the X as well....I had no idea it would perform that well.

the tires are great on dry ground as well.....very confident driving with them.

I hope we get another blizzard this year just so I could test out the X on it and see for myself how it handles!!!
