The Mods have started, questions?

It has been 48 hours since the X5 has arrived.
I have already purchased 18 inch wheels for snow tires.
Set up a hitch install next week.
Now I want to order a M5 sport wheel to install myself. I was quoted $486 by my dealer.
Is this the going rate?
Some of you have used an M3 wheel, is there any difference.
My X5 is a 03 with sport so the air bag should work?

Thanks all

The M5 sport wheel is the same at the M3 wheel with the exception that the M5 sport wheel has black stitching (whereas the M3 wheel has blue and red stitching). Strickly a personal preference.

You can get the wheel from Crevier for about $325 (ask for the X5world discount) plus shipping and you can reuse your '03 sport wheel airbag. There are installation instructions in the INTERIOR section on the home page http://www.xoutpost.com/

For what year wheel is the dealer quoting you? Is it for an '06 M5 wheel perhaps? That might be pretty cool...

M5 Steering Wheel with Black Stitching

Part #: 32-34-2-282-025

I gave my dealer the above part number which came from the X5world article written in 2003.

I have it on my M3 and it looks pretty sweet! It will give your X5 an M feel without have the //M badge which some people think should not go on an X5. regardless of the color of the stitching, it is a sweet wheel that still looks and feels brand new 4 years later.

If there is, then that's another reason why I'm getting the M5 wheel soon!
