Software gremlins perhaps. I had similar problems on and off with my 2002 4.4i. About two years ago my GPS took a vacation for about 5 weeks for absolutely no apparent reason. It came back on it's own and has been fine ever since...go figure.

And we are welcoming to the club our newest ERROR!
http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...ssue-z4-m.html and another one here post 7: http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...-gps-lost.html looks like the problem with MKIV displaying Receiver Error started in Feb, 08 and keeps on going just like Energizer Bunny. |

Hi,
I don't own a X5 but have had similar problems on my RR. First if you install a back-up camera under the rear spoiler, it will be close to the GPS antenna and if the camera wires are live, it will disturb the GPS antenna and give a reciever error. My problem was a broken antenna extension cable; when connecting The GPS antenna directly into the MKIV all worked fine. I hope this information could be of some use. Regards |
