New to X5... question about turn signals for 2004+

Hi guys. I currently drive an e46 coupe (and member of e46fanatics) but I need some more room... So I'm going to buy a gently used X5. I'm shooting for a 2005 or 2006. I like the way the turn signals are built into the light cluster in the 04+. However, I don't like the amber lenses. Is there a way to swap those out to a clear turn signal lense?

Also, I've seen upgrades for the angel eyes that run about $300. They seem like they're just an LED bulb.... is that right? Is there any reason to pay that for it over just modifying a 3W Luxeon LED to work for the angel eyes?

Thanks for the info!

Sam

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "built into light cluster"....front or back?
all '04 + are "clear" too...no more amber.
The angel eyes are a touchy issue, look at pics and decide, it is a personal opinion.

I'm talking about the front turn signal. It looks like the turn signal is integrated into the headlight lense, unlike the non-facelift e46 where you can take the turn signals out by themselves. Here are some pics of what I'm talking about:

So is that orange color from the bulb only? On the X5's I've seen... it looks like that is just the lense of the turn signal - but I could be wrong.

the lense color is amber in the front turn signals on the facelifted x5. You can consider getting the euro version of the front headlamps however you'll have to assess how much it troubles you to have amber corners to justify the cost involved.

It looks like that particular one has his hazards/parking lights on....
When the bulb is off the lens is clear, only the reflector is amber.

Roveractive has the clears you can swap just like an e90, but they're expensive. I think around $3600 iirc.
