4.8is oil question...

I'm going to be changing my oil pretty soon and i'm not sure which I want to go with... I've searched the boards, but haven't found anything specifically for the 4.8is..

BMW 5w-30 (it's BMW)

Mobil 1 0W-40 (good coverage but can only purchase US-made version)

Castral Syntec 0W-30 (German-made version available.... But will 30 be enough coverage for summer here in Halifax (never get's higher than 80F)?? I'm also worried that the 30 will not be enough coverage for higher RPM's)

Of the three, which do you guys recommend??

They are all very good; they will all work very well in your 4.8. My fave is
the Mobil 1 0W-40, but any on your list or, any of the good synthetics mentioned
in the umptyseventyseven threads on this topic, found here on this board, Will Work Well.

Take your pick, buy the qts you need, change the oil, don't wring your hands.

Can't go wrong with either.

The OW30 runs on the thicker side of 30weights.
I wouldn't hesitate to run that or the M1.

For the Canadian climate the Mobil seems ideal. I know AMG use to use it, not sure if they still do.

lemans, as I posted back in the first response to your question,
they are, imo, all very good oil products for your X...and most
here, would concur.

The bmwcca guys, (I'm one, too, as are many of us here), are
not any more expert than any gang of car talking nuts.

If you want "Oil Threads", this board has them by the encyclopediac
quantity and length, ranging from really good posts to arm wrestle bs...

My orig. point and my point again, is that they are all very good oil brands
for a modern car driven on the streets in fairly normal conditions. This
isn't ProStock or even weekend club racing...

And, your orig post was to seek opins on those brands and weights and
I suspect you now want to argue why you want some other brand than
Mobil 1 0W-40; so go buy another brand. Save the bs arguments and data
and pages of "why"...

Use the Search Tab here first. If you really have a diff. viewpoint that we
all haven't already beaten to a pulp or a really different spin on "the best oil
to put in my X to drive around the fine province of Nova Scotia, Maritimes",
than keep on keeping on.
