Paypal and Citi are investigating, but both told me that I will have to ship the wheels back to pdiddy618. Now, UPS online said that the front wheels & tires weighed 75lbs each, and the rears weigh 76lbs each, which seems heavy. Although pdiddy618 told me he works for UPS, he also said that the employees do not get a discount, and that it cost him $269 to ship from his 60618 to my 60174. So, if I have to ship them back, I could be out that much money for a lesson. OR, I can purchase a newer front wheel, from detroit wheel and tire for $400, or fresh new from morristown for ~$550ish, cancel the claim, put some years back on my life, and not have to deal with pdiddy anymore. He would get the last laugh, however, and probably a big, I told you they were real, if I cancel the dispute...Part of me wants to, and part of me works way too friggin hard to get ripped off...

One cannot make that stuff up...
You shouldn't care what he thinks; maybe send him a set of e pics showing that he sold you 3 real and 1 rep wheel. I like retribution as much as the next guy, but I think copping a real wheel and clearing your head may be worth it in the longer run. GL,mD |

Motor - I'm starting to agree with you. Now, for 2 reasons:
First, I've called Citi a few times for clarification, and I've gotten a different answer each time on the protocol, almost as if they're pointing the blame on Paypal / ebay. I think after hours the call gets transferred to a different country, and it is very difficult to keep explaining my story, as explaining the intricicies are wearing me out. I also get the feeling that nothign is being recorded on Citi's side. Second, I normally ship everything to my work, but not UPS, as we have a UPS guy that constantly drops fragile computer equipment on the cement no matter how many times we ask him not to. This time I shipped to my home, and now I feel a bit uncomfortable - not sure why. So, I asked pdiddy for a $400 refund to be fair. I'll let you knw when he responds. I'd like to hear what other people think.

Now that you have 75% of what you expected your situation is different. The seller appears to be somewhat misinformed but still honest as 3 of the 4 are OEM. I'd attempt to seek some compensation for the 4th rim and call it a day. Unless you can get a full refund and then drop off the rims yourself.

If you can get a $400 refund from pdiddy, that would be the way to go. After a while, you have to figure that you've spent enough time and frustration on this. Unfortunately, based on his responses, I think it's unlikely that you will get that $400 though.
It's a pity that you would have to pay to ship them back. If you go that route, you're obviously out that money. And pdiddy will probably sell them again on eBay and might get an unsuspecting buyer next time... Let us know what happens... Something else. It's tough to believe that pdiddy did not know that there was one replica. The picture that you posted is very different to the OEM 168 wheel: |

I decided to sleep on it, and wait to see if pdiddy will offer a small refund. I took the 3 oem wheels out and cleaned them up, as they were full or tar and caked on mud everywhere. Go rid of all that. Now, this may not bother some people, but 1 of the 3 oem wheels seems to have been refinished on the inside - it is just a darker shade of silver inside. It is definitely oem, just darker inside. It says "9032" in sharpie marker inside. Since it's dark out now, I will take better pics later.
4 good toyos, almost new, as far as I can tell. 3 oem 168's, 1 of which is a bit darker on the inside. 1 replica wheel, that is bent out of shape, and has so many counter weights inside, the mechanic had to double up the weights on top of each other. So, is there an easy way to tell if any of the rims have been in an accident? Cracked or fractured? Everyone's replies have been very helpful.

The more info, the more it sounds like the oems were really "as is", and
of course the rep. is a rep and sounds like a piece of junk... Who the hell sells grungy wheels and "3 of a kind" with an idiot wheel thrown in. Pdiddy, (catchy name), sounds like a seller that figures his buyers aren't sophisticated and/or will settle for just ok goods, based on price. Which leads me to change my opin and hammer the guy back through PP or your CC and get your dough back; the decision is tough and up to you, however. GL, Truman! BR,mD |

It looks like some of the latest posts have been accidentally removed...to sum it up, I have contacted pdiddy on the phone. He is definitely a kid. He does want to resovle the issue. He said he recently bought an X5 and it came with these wheels on it. He agreed over the phone to refund $400.
I called Paypal - they said to have each of us write them an email to [email protected] with the case # in the subject line, and the body stating the agreement of a $400 refund. I will be going to Suburban Tire tonight in St. Charles to make sure the 3 OEMs are straight and true before I send paypal my email agreement.

I would drive the wheel to his house. Forget shipping it. Have a friend video tape the exchange so you have proof it was returned. And/or have him sign a reciept that he recieved the wheel and have a witness sign it too!!!
Why don't you remove the Toyo from the replica rim while you are at the tire shop??? Then maybe a $300 refund is proper?? |
