I don't think that is the problem since I have used my phone with other bluetooth devices. The thing is that I have done every procedure I found but the MID never displayed anything related to bluetooth or the phone. I've never seen the PASSKEY screen or anything like it!

Or take a look behind the rear left cargo cover where the cd changer resides. The top left corner of the BT module sticks up above the cargo floor when the cover is removed. In the pics below...the BT module is the silver component with the purplish connector plugged into it that is mounted at an angle (your connector may not be purple...but the BT module is in the same location & is mounted at the same angle if you have the option): {plastic floor pieces have been removed so you can see the BT module}

Thank God, Dr. Q saw this post... While the BT was available option on the E53, once they decided to go as standard on '05 models, they still managed to install TCUs that had BT labels and no BT circuitry... go figure... Pairing instructions are different for original E53s and facelift E53s - the originals would have a separate VR module available, and have a talking head in the console in addition to steering wheel. The newer BT modules (there were like 13 editions!!) have the VR built in, and don't need the talking head in the center console...
Not an affirmative test, but if you press and hold the talking head on the steering wheel, you may get a lady asking you for a number... NO! not that kind of lady!! she just wants to know which number to dial for you!!! On Nav modules that lady also takes Nav commands... Also, a previous owner might have taken the BT module out and sold it on ebay... so, the only affirmative way to see about the BT, is look for the actual module in the left trunk pocket.
