Nav Screen HELP!

I had to get a jump for my '02 X5...didn't realize my battery was going bad...

One particular time I jumped my X5, the nav screen stopped displaying anything. The screen kind of light up for a sec then went black. Radio and CD works ok but since everything is set from the screen, i cant do anything....run the navagation, balance the speakers, manually change the stations, set the time and date, etc...

I unplugged the unit, disconnected the battery, hoping to re-set everything but nothing seems to work.

DID I JUST BLOW OUT THE SCREEN? Do I need to buy a new unit?? It's so dang expensive...ANY SUGGESTIONS?? Pls HELP!!

I'm afraid the screen prob is toast. Alpine can fix it for about 300 bucks.
