What gives, has anyone put Bilsteins on the rear axle of a X5 with rear air suspension?
bringing up a very old issue, but im having the same problem. anyone have a part number for the rear shocks that fit the rear air suspension for an 2001 x5?

You're doing it right with 1st class parts - 84k on my '01 X5 and so far I can't seem to wear anything out - even the Diamaris still have too much tread to replace just yet(new at 36k) - front brakes were done at 28k by original lease/owner, but still are good today - my X5 gets a thorough checkup 2x a year just before I do my cross country travel from SC to ID(May) & back(Sept) - I have some electronic upgrade issues, but I just plain love this car - I wish you the best with yours

you are lucky! my outer cv boot went at 50k and my tilting end of panoramic sunroof got stuck and my front bushings all went in the last 6 months....

Sounds like normal maintenance to me. Except the pano roof.

So who has replaced the 4 corner Air suspension with billsteins? Thoughts? The Arnott replacements come out to about $938. Then you are still crossing your fingers about the pump, sensors, and module... no?

Mine are ready to replace. Trying to consider all options...

Can the spring be reused or does it need to change out too?

Rear socks finally arrived. HD Bilsteins (#BIL 24-107440). Delay due to the holidays. Ordered from AJ-USA,Inc. - AJUSA.com. Good customer service and good prices.

I'll be installing them this week and excited to get all 4 corners running with new struts and shocks!

BTW, AJ USA is the only place I noticed that actually listed the description of the shocks correctly.

I have a letter in to Bilstein in Germany on this topic (Bilstein with rear only self leveling suspension), as Sachs and KYB do not make a distinction on the rears for springs vs. self leveling. My opinion is that it's either confusing the four wheel air system OR that the HD/B6 rear shocks might be too firm with rear air. We shall see what they say.
