Here's a new one....

My 2005 4.4 occasionally sets off the alarm for no reason when I hit the unlock button on the key. I saw that others have had this problem as well.

Thursday night I was about to put the X5 to bed and hit the unlock button to get in. The turn signal / marker lamps flashed......and then continued to flash. Starting the car had no effect, hitting the hazard button or the turn signal stalk had no effect, turning the car on and off, no effect, hitting the buttons on the remote, no effect, etc. Curiously, the dash indicator lamps did not illuminate to indicate the signals / hazards were on.

As an aside, I was catching a flight to Las Vegas in the morning and was not excited about coming home to a dead battery.

Finally, I took it for a quick drive and at some point the lights stopped flashing and the hazard button / turn signal stalk returned to normal function.

Anyone heard of this, or have any ideas????

Wow, I've got an exact same problem. Sometimes the alarm goes off as I press the unlock button, and then to stop it I push lock and unlock buttons randomly until it stops, which is ~3 seconds. However it's definitely an annoyance. Anyone else has this and/or knows how to get this resolved?

Hmmm..not really sure. I have had the same problem too in the past. But it only happens once in a blue moon, so it never bothered me enough to really check it out. I just figured it's probably just a programming glitch where the car registers it as a different command from the key.

Ye I've been noticing the same thing my 2005 3.0, does that out of the blue as well, I just press the unluck button twice and it usually stops...

It just happened to me today for the first time. If I can reproduce it, I will have to make a trip to the Dealer.

Yeah it's really @#$% annoying--you look like a real idiot in the parking lot.

This time though, no siren, just the lights flashing.

Then why is it happening to guys with 2005 vehicles? Bad batteries from the factory? I would expect my 2001 to have a low battery before someone with a 2005.

My '05 does the same thing. Very annoying, but I just chalk it up to German expertise in electronics.
