Turn Signals Hyperblinking?

It's really strange....

For a good 2 weeks when i used my right turn signal it would hyperblink, then this morning I just removed the bulb and entered it back in and back to normal. Any idea? I wouldn't mind if both sides hyperblinked, I like it like that but weird it's only one side

bulb and socket are going/about to go.....should replace it.

Put a brown paper bag over the affected turn signal and tell her to blink slowly. That'll fix it. It may have seen one of the new M5s or the new LED turn signals

Sometimes that sort of thing is caused by a bad relay (sometimes).

it means there is bulb or socket going bad on 1 side... it's actually there to signify the fault. In your case, the bulb might have been loose and plugging it in fixes it. remember, the 2 sides are on a different loop.

If there is an intermittent problem, you should be able to find this by just wiggling the wires and bulb assembly while the blinker is on.

However, low voltage assemblies like turn signals are known to develop resistance on the connections that make the car diagnostics think the bulb is bad. I had a rear turn signal on my 325is that plagued me for 8 of the 10 years I owned it. The entire assembly was replaced under warrantee as well as numerous replacement bulbs until I figured out it was just a simple matter of schmutz that needed to be cleaned off occasionally. It is probably part carbon and part other stuff that builds up over time, but it is probably not a bad assembly.

I had the problem on my left front turn signal about 3 months ago. It was intermittent, i.e. sometimes the pulsing would start off normally for 4 or 5 clicks and then become rapid and vice versa. When I finally accessed the left signal bulb I found the bulb/socket contacts to be lightly corroded. I used a 400 grit emery paper to sand it away and all is well.

Had the same problem. Was broken than was working fine. On my way down on vacation it started again so I stopped at Flemington BMW and they got me in and out. Turned out that the holder corroded right through, apparently its a big problem but no TSB has ever been issued.

Same happened to my 3 series but about a week later, the bulb went out for good.
