Getting back to my question about fitting the alum. running boards and rear flares w/o the 4.8 rear ground effects... Uncle Tito, do you have any more info on what's required? Would there be problems with front flares w/o the 4.8 front bumper? |

How long does it take to put on the alum. running board? My dealer wants to charge me 3.5 hours at 95.00 an hour. From the look of the instructions on here, it looks very straight forward and about an hour to do.

ssabripo, you only need flared arches if you have a 4.6/4.8 or have 20" x10.5" rear wheels and you want a complete look. Also, with big wheels flared arches help in winter from salt and dirt hitting the side panels. The running board kit comes with standard arches, not the flared arches. I recently put r/b on my X5 4.8 and had to buy the flared arches separately. The part # you have is correct for r/b. In case you want flared arches, these are the part #s
Flares, rear left 51 71 7 051 035 $194.60 Flares, rear right 51 71 7 051 036 $194.60 Flares, front left 51 71 7 051 037 $180.60 Flares, front right 51 71 7 051 038 $180.60 DinanX5, I am not sure how you can stick the rear flare piece on a 4.4 bumper. But the part # for the rear piece is SUPPORT REAR LEFT BUMPER TRIM 51 12 7 046 919 $137.76 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&fg=15&hl=26 Front flares should NOT have any problems without 4.8 bumper. You should be able to install the the r/b in 2 hours if you have the proper rivet gun and tools. Good Luck. |

So does that mean that with those two additional left/right trim pieces, the RB/flares will fit on my 4.4? |

I have a 4.4i, but I do have the 20 x 10.5" 4.6is wheels on it......unless I "have" to get the flared ones, I probably will stick with OEM. Also, I am in Miami, so salt and snow won't be much of a problem... Just the occasional tidal wave from a hurricane
