Question E53 MY04 vs MY05

I tried a quick search but couldn't find any results.

Does anyone know the difference between MY04 and MY05?

I understand the change maybe minor but in the market dealer does charge more money for MY05. Thanks in advance.

There are no differences. The charge is different because one is newer then the other. If there are any differences it would be insanely minor, like a paint color difference. There are no mechanical differences between the two.

The difference aint much. It's just that a few options became standard (4.4i).
- Navigation
- Reverse Camera

Besides that, the biggest change is the panorama sunroof. That's if do you want get a sunroof. If you're getting a MY04 with sunroof, I suggest you change your mind and get a MY05 go paranomic. The difference is huge! Cause I had both MY04 and MY05 (4.4i)

And, wish you posted here earlier, so I could of tried and knock a up a deal for you. Cause we just sold our MY05...this week...still waiting on payment though

Ahhhh I don't think that is accurate

Panoramic became an option in 2004, not 2005 and Nav/Camera are not standard in any model. They are part of packages, such as the premium package.

There is no difference at all in the drive train so I'm not sure why you thought the difference was "huge"

There shouldn't be great differences, facelift model (E53) was introduced at the end of 2003
Panorama roof was introduced in April 2004, so some earlier facelifted models (like mine, production 02/2004) has the smaller sunroof.

Ah sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm referring to packages in Australia.

Over here we don't really get 'package' as you guys do in US. Everything's an option, except sports pack...that's the only 'package' that we get. Everything else...pick and add...

And a mistake that I made was...
Navigation didnt become standard, it was bluetooth. From memory I believe it was MY06 that Navigation became standard equipment on Aust-4.4i

Thanks for the reply. Surprised receiving replies so quick.

JacKay, I am in Australia too. It's annoying that how much extra we pay for BMWs.

Based on the above replies, I believe there is no difference between MY04 and MY05, and I will definitely get one with sport package here. Not interested in getting sun roof and Sav Nav, the dealer here charges a lot more for these two, which are not being a practical choice for me.

Lastest progress, just put deposit on a MY05 3.0D sport.

Does anyone know what does a BMW "safety test" include? I had the dealer done this at a BMW dealer, but not sure what it really tests.
