Internal Door Handle

First ever post so be gentle please BMW X5 4.4i sport 2002

This morning the interior door handle appeared to go floppy and hence I was unable to exit the drivers side door. So had to climb out of the back doors. Central locking works fine and door opens from the outside. Is there a quick fix? How do I get at the handle without removing all the door panel. Any help gratefully recieved as I look an arse puling up in the car then climbing out of the back!!

check bowden cable...

this attach the latch to door actuator.
See the pdf file below, to check you'll need to pop the wood trim and see if the white plastic tab is in place(maybe it got loos or pop out completely). The other thing is you may have broken door actuator.
