Replecing Break pads and Rotors

Hello all.
I am about to buy a set of pads and rotors for my 01 X5 from an Ebay seller.
Would these work ok or should I go for the dealer preffered parts?
I am in Wisc, USA.
If any one knows a reputable repair shop that I can use in the area please advice.
Thanks all in advance

I have to be honest, I wouldn't put those on my X.

Check this site out. Just a little more expensive, but much better quality.

A LITTLE more expensive? They just moved the decimal point over! But those are some damn good brakes! As for the eBay ones... well, you get what you pay for. Being such a safety item I don't know if I would trust a $300 full 4 wheel brake set. Something tells me they would be prone to possible warpage and fast wear of the rotors with deep lips forming soon.

You think professional is expensive, just wait until you pay for amateur.

Naw...I got the Centric plain rotors ($290 for all 4) and Axxis pads for a total of about $420 and IMO they are much better quality than that Ebay stuff.

Check out that site. They don't just sell big brake kits.

Well, I should be due for rear brakes just before my extended maintenance is up meaning freeby, but the next time the fronts are due I will definitely have a look... oh wait, the only rotors available for the 4.6 are plain, not slotted. I might as well just go with the OEM (at my cost of course ) and get the better pads .The Porterfield RS-4 look great, but expensive...

You are much more limited for aftermarket rotors and such with a 4.6/4.8, which seems strange.

If I were you I would go OEM as well, especially with your discount. I sometimes shop around my BMWCCA discount if I can find a dealer in my area willing to participate.

Found this on Dave Z's site;

Centric Premium rotors are identical in dimensions and internal vane design to the factory originals. During assembly, rotors are straddle cut for the most accurate machining, then double disc ground for optimum parallelism, minimal runout, and near zero thickness variation. A non-directional finish is applied for better initial pad bedding. All surfaces, including the hat, are machined and non-swept surfaces are electrostatically coated with a durable, black finish (unless noted otherwise below) for corrosion protection and good looks. Finally, all rotors are computer mill balanced to incredibly tight tolerances. You won't find a better replacement rotor anywhere

Yeah, probably the only other reasonably priced thing I can do would be the stainless brake lines, which would just tighten up the pedal feel a hair.
