comeon dont roll those eyes.....the ls1 is a great motor, easy to mod, easy to find parts and you will not go broke modding it.

have you ever looked at what it will cost to mod an m62 or s62? huge money, noone has much experiance with it etc etc....
we are talking making something like the lemans x5....

i have priced it out before, just for the drivetrain im into it for 18-20K. add suspention and wheels, and all the things you never thing about and your looking at 25-30 k into a 2 wheel drive "race" SUV....not a huge resale market.....
who do you know that would pay 45-50K for a 400-500hp 6 speen rear wheel drive X5?

it was just the intercooler system, not the whole SC system. i already have the dinan SC setup and wanted cooler intake temps...its done and works well...no one else seemed to want one

Part of owning a BMW like an X5 is the technology put into it to make it what it is... if you want "just a truck" to simply make go fast, why not just stick with a 454SS chevy or ford lightning? My boy's lightning is down in the 9's in the 1/4 with less mods than you would think.

And yeah the LS1 is a solid motor that is cheap to mod, but to put it in an X5 just seems like blasphemy! Why not just drop it into a S10 blazer? I have some friends that think the answer to everything is "drop a LS1 in it"... hence the E30 project nearing completion. But others think different. I have another tech at my dealer that has the V12 out of an E38 750il that he wants to drop in a 32ish model T roadster. Now THAT would be unique and interesting!

i agree, an the 4.6is m62 technology is no better that the technology of an LS1...
i was not saying to do it, just that i explored the option....its funny that you feel it would be neat to throw a new bmw motor in an old ford, but not as cool for the reverse....

Yeah, then I could throw a ford 5.4 engine from the new GT500 in a lambo... After all it has same HP numbers and MORE torque.

And look at the valvetronic setup on the N62, tell me chevy can tough that.

dont have that on the 02 4.6....

and no, the gt motor in the lambo would not be worth the headache, it would not be an easy task, unlike the swap in question.

man let if go.....i am sorry if you feel that i have tarnished the bmw name by thinking outside the box.
