I had the same problem with check engine and the stealer had to replace a bunch of hoses back in the bowels of the engine. Mine was covered under warranty so no idea on the cost. I cleared my codes at the local AutoZone with the code tool but of course it came back until I had the work done. But after you get your fixes in you can clear it with their code reader.

That last post did just remind me that the auto parts stored like autozone and advanced auto parts do read codes, which means they should be able to clear as well. Otherwise there is no quick trick that I know of to do it through the vehicle.

Don't forget the one by front of the passengers side exhaust manifold, to the secondary air valve. That one is usually the first to go.

Well after some further investigation still not able to rectify issue (Error code P0171). Did a thorough look for any vaccume leaks (crank case hoses, etc.) and also cleaned my MAF sensor twice but still no change in status.
Any other ideas? Possible faulty 02 sensor??? Will the warning light just go off or do I have to reset it somehow? ![]() ![]()

Well did some more investigating and still cant seem to get this issue resolved??
(P0171 - System too lean bank 1)I double checked for vaccume leaks of any kind and from what I see everything seems to be looking ok. I also removed the MAF sensor and cleaned it but this did not seem to help either. Could it be a faulty o2 sensor? If the problem was fixed does the warrning light go away? or do I have to get it reset? Suggestions??? Thanks

And no the fault will not reset itself, it would have to be cleared. If there is no obvious cause of the lean mixture fault you may have to bite the bullet and pay for proper diagnosis... Sometimes it just takes having the proper diagnostic equipment.

Intake manifold
Hi,
It could possibly be the air intake manifold has started to seperate. We have a 3.0D which was loosing power under acceleration and could not find the cause for months until 1 day it went bang! The reason it was never spotted was it was only slightly seperating when under pressure (accelerating) and appeared fine when not. Hope ths helps. Simon. |
