lower oil sump drain plug thread repair
Timesert seems to be better than heli-coil and perma-coil. It's like a solid thread bushing not just a coil. I bought the whole drain plug repair kit. Even though it's quite expensive but it's worth every penny. After the repair is done, no more dripping now. Once the pan is off. Just drill out the damaged thread. Counterbore it to create a place that thread bushing collar will sit on. Then install the thread. |

I like TimeSert better than Helicoil... but it may just be personal preference. Both are good stuff!
Good job there. How can a "mechanic" strip a simple, large threaded drain plug?!

Then he said he will repair it in the next oil change and just put some silicone around the plug. I will never send my cars to them again. That is not the jiffy lube quick oil change shop. They specialize and work only BMW.
