They (she) told me that my X had an auxiliary input for an mp3 player or any other device I wanted to use to listen through the stereo...She pointed to the little slot in the center console..(?)There is no such connection (above pic) in my glovebox.. So I dont know if she was just confused, or if she intentionally told me that sh*t to get a rise....

Either way, Im really kind of pissed off becuase I am by no means a DIY person and that was a major issue for me...to be able to easily listen to my mp3 player through the stock stereo...But now I am going to have to find an installer, the equipment, etc. to get all this done...I would have waited for an '05 if I had known all of this...

The aux input is gold like what is in the pic. You have a gold input as well, but not in the glove box. The aux input can be installed in another location as well as the glove. Yours is probably just installed in the center console. You need to show us what yours looks like.

I have pics, but it keeps saying "file too large"...I shrunk it to the point where it didnt even make sense to post them..I could email it to you though...

However, its in in the "top part" of the center storage section, where you can separate the top from the bottom...at the "hinge" point -- there is a hole there with a plastic cover that can be taken out...That is where my stlr rep told me I could plug in another medium...I asked the service dept about it yeterday, and they have no clue what Im talking about...

The problem is, here, they have "salespeople" who NEVER interface with the other people in the operation..They are miles apart, literally, and now I realize they dont have a f*&@in clue about the cars their selling, because fortunately, for them, they sell themselves ....Man I wish I had found out about this site before I bought the thing...

Ok, so what would be the deal in installing aux input in a 2001 with nav and dsp? I know I'd have to get a 2003+ radio module, but other than that would it be the same? Would it still plug into the HU?
