Thanks to all for your welcome and yes it is weird that they put the wheel on the wrong side. Thankfully they do that to all cars over here so that keeps me safe.
Managed to fix the offending part. It was actually located correctly but the top had partly detatched and so it looked missaligned. Once I got it off it was easy to see the problem and a little gentle work with a small bladed screwdriver and it was back in place and fitted back on the car.
Really enjoying the car and the lovely sound of that V8.
