I would love to keep my x5, but with high mileage, odds are against me that I won't have major repairs in the future. I cannot live through another cold northeast winter worrying that my doors and windows will freeze and not close or open. I'm hoping to get 11k but will take 9. may trade it in.
Here's the final diagnosis on the incident:
remove and replace oil separator including clean hose passages, clean tube, add oil, remove all related components.lubricate seals, remove spark plugs, clean cylinder walls, free engine including lubricate cylinder walls, rotate and free engine due to water condensation. verify engine proper rotation. get vehicle started, scan and clear computer, run and drive vehicle, rescan computer, check for oil leaks. replaced valve assembly and add synthetic oil.
$700.00

Sounds like your good to go.. why sell it? Normal maintenance like brakes, and oil changes are going to be needed, but other than that it seems like your ok..

$700 here, $1000 there, with the high miles, odds are against me that things are not going to break. when you're out of warranty, these kinds of charges every other month make a $300/month lease payment seem like chump change. I'm selling. looking at the murano fully loaded. sad to see the x5 go, but just can't afford to fix her

sounds to me like $700 was way low. im in the same position and will be selling 01 x5 4.4 with 75K miles as well. i have had 5 bimmers (mostly 540's) and i am done.

What makes you think the Murano won't break down? Realize the Murano has a timing belt, which will have to be changed at 100k... $$
