DD02X5 is on a distinguished road
2002 vs 2003

Curious to know what the main differences are between an 02 X5 3.0i and an 03 X5 3.0i - aside from the ride height and emergency brake lights?

Also, does the ride height feature really matter. For those who have it, do you use it all that much?

Thanks!

My '03 didn't have the facelift. That came out in '04. I don't know of any significant differences between the '02 and '03.

BMW calls it LCI, for life cycle improvement. It is the refresh done partway through the model run.

If you have navigation, the 02 had the CD-based MkIII and the 03 had the DVD-based MkIV.

03 also saw the introduction of Sirius as an option (radio module in the 02 doesn't work with the Sirius module, I don't believe)

Take a look at pictures of the 00-03 and 04-06 X5's and you will see that there are differences between these two production series. Specifically there are differences in the hood, front grill, front fenders and front bumper. It is called a "facelift" because BMW made only slight cosmetic changes to freshen up the look, versus a complete platform change (as what occurred when the E70 was introduced in 2007)
