Gotta also realize that you're on a forum where most post either mods or problems with their car. It's going to seem like there are more problems than there actually are. People don't post on the forums "nothing wrong with my X5" haha. I wouldn't worry about it. On my third BMW now and so far they've all been the best cars I've owned yet. May cost alittle more to maintain than the jap cars I've owned in the past, but you gotta pay to play if you know what I mean

Have a 04-3.0 now and it has 61k and other than the coil recall, it has been trouble free.

Just wanted to say, "nothing wrong with my X5"

Seriously, there are like 38,503 members here. Yes, a few issues seem to be common.

My research shows the X5 is actually one of the most trouble free and reliable cars made. The flip side is the cost of maintenance. Nothing's free. When you take this car to it's limits, the others have a hard time comparing.

No car is perfect. But the X does alot really well. Enjoy it. Develop a good relationship with your dealer or local Indy.
