You have to watch with an 04 Touareg for tyre wear and the stepper motor issue, however you would hope that these have already been sorted out under warranty.

Having owned all three an X5 the ML and Touareg the only one I regret selling
is the Touareg.

its a bit unfair to compare a toerag to the old x5 and ml....
if you compare the new x5 and ml to the toerag the i could say the ml is great overall, but if you want more of a sports theme then the x5.

HOWEVER
if you comparring the old ml and x5 to the toerag.....
then most likely the toe would have less problems, but the newer the x5 and ml you can find the less problems you'll probably find

i also have owned all three..

i believe the toureg is much more comfortable ..
it drives like a van infact - softer suspension and smooth steering and smooth v6 engine.. i own 4 touregs and there all had 1 headlight bulb blown and issues with the tires valves.. that was it..........

if i was going to talk about issues about x5 i write a book........

with all honesty ..
at the end of the day i love x5s - they are a headache but its a complete suv( its a sportscar / van / suv - which other suv can you say that about besides the cayenne? proply none....

So what i got to fix something evert week -lol... when i hope on the highway with my family -theres nothing like it..

im a nj car dealer

You don't get into a Touareg by accident...you know what you're doing and you know vehicles if you buy one of these...

Range Rover...NEVER all I hear are horror stories.
If I can't get what I want in an X5, then a Touareg/Cayenne would be my next "look at".

Ha ha. The Range Rover...the only car that's pretty much guaranteed to be more of a pain in the butt than the X5!

One of the previous commenters was right about one thing - you do see a lot of problem threads on this message board, mostly because folks that own an X5 with a problem are coming here looking for advice. I'm sure there are many, many X5 owners that never have a problem. (or, at least four or five )
