Current complaints about the X5

Hey guys,

Just wanted to start a thread to see what u guys dislike about your Car to date..i know we all love the car, but there are some minor problems. ( JUST like the WIFEY)

example:

BMW service (this one is a given, STEALership)

my current complaint is my motion sensor in the X5 not working..when all the windows are down and the alarm is on...any movement in the Car will set it off. But mine is FAULTY...i brought it to BMW to diagnose, but under my certified preowned they wont cover it. They want to charge me $200 min. to diagnose the problem...but WTF...i already know what the problem is....ITS NOT WORKING.

ill just wait until summer comes around again to get it fixed..because i have no intention of leaving my windows open during the cold season.

cheers!

also...when i stop at a red light..and apply the brakes..it feels like my car is downshifting...u guys have that problem..its like a jerky feeling.

I have that jerky feeling on my 04 X5 at times when I come to a stop. Have it brought in your stealership. Use your transmission problem (downshifting jerky feeling) as your main complaint why the vehicle needs to be serviced (part of warranty program). Then if the guy in the service dept asks you about any other complaint or parts that need to be serviced, add your motion sensor problem to it. or take the initiative and mention that motion problem sensor yourself (sneak it in to the problems that need to be serviced)

I do not like how high strung my 2004 4.8is is. I just got it a week and a half ago, but it seems difficult to drive smoothly. I also have an M3 convertible, and it feels like that car feels when the sport button is pushed and the throttle mapping becomes very aggressive. It looks great, and has tons of power, but I am questioning how practical it is for everyday use. I already have a play car. I was looking for something to drive when I do not feel like thinking about driving so much.

want to exchange your 4.8 with our 4.4? So much smoother, trust me it's practical for everyday use. Just messing with you.

The mesh inside the plastic which is next to the rear windows between the B & C pillar seems to always be peeling off. It does it on my '01, a friend of mine has an '05 and it does it on his too.

I have had my 4.6 now for about 6 days. It is definately more quirky than the 4.4i. I am finally getting used to it. I like it more and more everytime I drive it. It is really hard to explain, but I was disappointed at first because I was expecting a similar driving experience to the 4.4i (other than the increase in HP). I do like that everytime I hit the accelerator, I get a big grin on my face ---- and a big dent in the wallet.

Painfull

Just put it in manual mode, crack your windows and enjoy that beautifull exhaust note as you stop and go.

I hate the fact that there is no in-dash cd in this day and age

On mine ... mmmhhh let me see. I do have 2 things that bother me ...Here i go
1) Noises in back everytime i go over a bump... i am still trying to discover where those little noises in the back come from? (yeah i have seen the threads no luck yet... sorry)

2) Shimmy steering wheel when i step on brake. I know its a suspension problem. I just have not had the time to go to the dealer with a friend of mine to fix it.

Other than that i wouldnt change my X5 for anything... well maybe a Ferrari?

Its that exhaust note which begs to step on gas.
