2004 530i = Yes. DIS v43 lists 5 series models E28, E34, E39, E60/61 2006 330 = No. DIS v43 lists 3 series models E30, E36, E46, E90/E91 EDIT : Wait a minute .. isn't the 2006 330 considered E90?! So, I guess its supported? I'm still confident we can get the yellow head to work with DIS v55 for diagnosing. Seems like the cut-over year was around 2005-2006. I'm still looking for answers on your other questions. EDIT: I'll add a list of all supported models for v43 on the first post later. Last edited by TwinsPoppa; 03-27-2009 at 03:37 PM. |

Interesting change. I assume with 35mm drop you are now always at the lowest of the 3 settings that are under the adjustable ride height control, correct? (Though I always thought that was a max of only 20mm lower than the standard level for reasons of allowing the springs and suspension to work properly) So now what is displayed on the controller? Is the lowest light illuminated? And what happens now when you want to change the setting by pressing the button?

But for you, here goes for now: When you do the DIY it is for setting the STANDARD/DEFAULT ride-level. So, it displays the middle light like normal. This means that when I select the lower lever, it will STILL go lower. EDIT: You and your edits! I can't remember where I read this or where I got it (probably from all those BMW documentation I linked on the first post) but max range to lower is 50mm. Also, I selected 35mm drop, again can't remember how/why, but was under the impression that 35mm was the drop for the lower setting - so used that and thought I would be safe. Remember, I'm basing my DIY on my 4.8. Maybe the 3.0/4.4 has different tolerances - I just don't know. BTW ... When I use the lowest setting button, I have about 1/2" gap in the back. Thanks, you're a great guy on the board, that's for sure!
So you lower it by 35mm and it will STILL be able to lower another 20mm to 55mm down? (just read your post, 50mm max). Wow! But, now the offroad setting is severly limited right? Since it will only go up 5mm from the OE standard setting. I didn't appreciate this before, but it is actually very cool. Drive on the highway, keep it low as possible @ 35mm. Go skiing or something, raise it up to the max (whatever that is) and then you've got (I assume) another 40 mm to go up at low speed. Imagine the river you could cross now! |

Yes, you are limiting the off-road since in this case I lowered it 35mm. However, I still DO have the option to raise it and it will raise it the same amount as before - but obviously, compared to before the total change will be less 35mm. And yes, I can still go to the lowest setting w/o rubbing or suspension problems and it will still raise automatically once I move above the threshold speed. Of course, I can always raise the default ride-level before I go on any off-road adventure! But that's not very likely - going off-roading I mean! ![]() EDIT: Just to be clear. The DIY is setting the default ride-level. When you enter a different value, in this case HIGHER than default, then the system will think wait a sec that's wrong - it should not be this HIGH. Let me LOWER the X so its at the proper level. We are FOOLING the system into thinking it's too high to get it to lower it. Hahaha .. reverse "psychology" programming!

A little hard to tell the difference. You need a tripod to photograph it better. Do your neighbors think you're crazy yet?

No but I haven't really looked. I think Rondo said in this thread somewhere that it can't be done. If he says it can't, that's good enough for me really. He knows waaay more than you and I that's for sure! Who knows maybe he's wrong ... will have to leave that for someone else or another day. I have too many DIY/MODS started and not finished writing it up! Ayayai ... I'm having a lot fun though and learning too. |
