I just want to make a couple vm partitions to instal dis and sss operating systems, is that too much to ask?
No I bought mine as a native install on a HDD with two partitions run through Unix. It runs on its own dedicated T30, VMware is not worth the risk to me.

After digging around some more I found a free virtual machine player through microsoft. It doesn't show coverage for windows 7 yet and had a pop up message during install reminding me of that but I was able to successfully make 2 partitions. I'm going to bring the laptop to work today (as I'm sure it will be painfully slow on black friday...) and try to install the DIS V55 on one and SSS V32 on the other with the original discs that are hanging around the shops. (I suspect the ones from yohotech are just copies of these anyways)

If it all installs correctly I'll try linking to one of the DK heads in the shop and going through a diagnostic session before buying a diagnostic interface for myself. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

I installed DIS on VMware and I can come up to the calibration screen, i can move the mouse, however it does not respond to any clicks.

I tried to copy this string
cp /fdd/shadow /mnt/var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5*/etc

to allow me to install the mouse fix string
cp /fdd/boot /mnt/var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5*/etc/default (autoboot with mouse fix) recommended for VMware

however I remain unsuccessful in running these last too commands. Do any of you GT1 gurus have some insight for me? =)

Hey Weasel!

If you need some help on the VM stuff and software, try Steed77. He might be able to shed some light. Me ... I'm practically of no use on that stuff.

Steed77 ... hope you don't mind me volunteering you!

Thanks for the info/heads up! I am still waiting on yohotech to come through with the prices they first gave me, they are trying now to charge about 30% more for some things and charge $50x2 for things they told me would be a "free gift"...

Unless someone could send me copies of the DIS V55/56 and SSS progman V32!!!????!!!

Hi there. I'm looking for a bit of help with a GT1 I just bought.

Here's the deal:

IBM T30 Laptop boots and loads DIS, GT1 head powers up and shows up connected in DIS screen.

When I try and read a car, it fails every time. I've tried with a 2002 735i and 2000 318i but neither will read.

The green and amber led on the GT1 are both on when I run the diagnostic. No red temperature led.

Anyone any suggestions?

Which version of the software?
Explain fails.
What error messages are you getting?
Post some screen shots.

DIS Programme V 56.0 (04/02)

Progman V31.1

DIS Software DAS V5131_P

Basisi-CD V52.0

GT1V 52.01.01
DISplus V 52.01.01

DIS boots just fine- GT1 shows up connected with full signal. If I run any test between T30 laptop and GT1 head, it passes.

Laptop is 192.168.68.30 and GT1 head is 192.168.68.35 (both 255.255.255.0).

With GT1 connected to BMW port, Green LED on rear is illuminated as well as green led on front beside connectors-amber LED is flashing. Red (temperature) led is not lit.

I click "Diagnosis" and choose 7 series > E65

Amber LED on GT1 stops flashing and stays lit. Green LED remains lit.

The DIS attempts to connect, fails and shows an error message something like "cannot identify or communicate with vehicle". If I identify the vehicle manually and run diagnosis, its the same thing.

Sorry I don't have screen shots just at the minute. I'm looking after a new born so will take shots later today.

Any help with this guys would be greatly appreciated.

I bought this GT1 and IBM T30 over a month ago, had to send it back as the first head was damaged in transit, finally got a replacement and now that won't work either !!
