I too need a few cosmetic parts to tidy up my '04 X5 3.0d which I own for two months. So far, I have only found wrecked one in Auckland but there is not much left of it. I can pass on the wrecker details if anyone is interested.

:xoutpost: oztme,
Apart from Gobble you might also want to shoot a PM to 'mogm321'. He also hails from Melbourne and has been sniffing around for parts, wrecks etc. I mean if you never ask you'll never know. The more guys that hit the wrecking yards the better the chance that something will show up. Good luck. Pics of your ride ??

Details of the wreck please, like year & model (maybe colour) maybe a link ?? Finding a wrecked X5 in Oz or NZ is hard as Fraser said, more like good luck than anything else. PS: Show us a pic of your Toledo Blue X

Thanks for the info mate (and the welcome). At this stage I'm just keeping an eye out for a wrecker ready for when I scratch/scrape things later..
Hmmm. Photos, don't have many yet. This one is the only one I can find. I took it of my X5 towing my rally car to Phillip Island last weekend. My X5 is an '05 turbo diesel; and I absolutely love it. I drove it from Melbourne to Adelaide last night, and a couple of times I just got the giggles/grins it is so good. It has 107,000kms on it, so I'm nervous about possible problems and $, but while it's behaving, it's just heaven.. The whole package is just great. The ride, the handling, the brakes (esp when towing), and how quiet it is are all great. I was tempted by a new Pajero but the endless clacky-diesel sound in the pajero was awful. With the windows closed, the X5 is really quiet inside ![]() ![]() Cheers Scott |

Here is a photo of my X5,
http://tur-www1.massey.ac.nz/~cteo/X5_1.JPG Had the rims and the front (bonnet, side panels and bumpers) repainted - all the small stone chips gone . The front black bumper was slightly faded (gone a bit whitish). It was amazing how the painter can match the colour and texture of the bumper to original. I have the details of the wrecker at work and it is a long easter weekend. I will post the details come Wed when I go back to work. Happy Easter and drive safely. |

Hi oztme, Yep, the diesel engine is the way to go. It is economical and and diesel fuel here is just under NZ$1/litre as opposed to petrol of NZ$1.60/litre. With diesel fuel tax added, it is still way cheaper than petrol. I just could not use the diesel fuel fast enough

So how does the government work out how many kilometres you have driven to apply the tax?
