Driving with kids in the car I always take precaution, but i'm not a driver to weave in and out of traffic. I pick my spots to open her up. Plus my drive to Wilmington was without the kids and wife. I know my "trans fail safe prog" error is concerning... but the program only activated due to my driving with the DSC light on. At least that's my thinking. As for my tires, I researched them online. Other BMW forums and Tirerack reviews and it's been all positive. Pirelli Zero Assimetrico's are all-season tires. They have a softer ride, speed rated to 150mph and no need to change to winter tires. As for my Indy, he's located in Jamaica, Queens on Merrick Blvd. I don't have exact address with me now, but if someone needs more info, you can PM me. Sorry for the long write-up. Once I started typing, I couldn't stop. I'm a fast typer.

Don't apologize for the long write-up. It shows your obvious enthusiasm for your X5, which is what this board is about. Your X5 is certainly very very nice and you have every reason to be happy with it. Also I'm not trying to scold you, driving these cars are where the fun is, just don't do it with kids in the car. You just never know. Also, not sure how old yours are, but make sure rear door airbags (if you got them) are deactivated if necessary. BMW will do this for you for free. If you need any details on it, just let me know. Keep updates on your tires going, I'd like to hear about them and might consider them for my next set.

Just got back from Hassel BMW in Freeport and unfortunately I needed a new key (other key is fine). Service Tech came out tried the whole reprogramming thing and nothing. Then a little later, another Service Tech gave it a try and still nothing. He thinks the key is not charging for whatever reason so I had to buy a new key for $200 dollars. Oh well... At least they give you free food and drinks, large television screen (happened to have cartoons on for my son) and some eye candy with the new M3 and E60 m5 parked out front. New key will arrive on Tuesday.

TireRack.com Tire Reviews Just go to the filter section for BMW I do agree with most of the posters. The Pirelli's are definitely much quieter and you barely notice a difference in performance. It's an All-Season Tire so maybe the compound is a little softer. I did ride the tires on a 600 mile round trip and compared to the Michelin Diamaris they definitely ride quieter and softer. |

one of the reviews says that it develops flat spots but they disappear after a few miles. Have you noticed it happen?

I had the Pirelli Scorpion Asym Zero previously and have to agree that they are an excellent all-seasons tire. I love the broad aggressive shoulders of those tires. The only downside is their wear...mine only lasted 20k miles
I did noticed some flat spotting on occasions (feels like the tires are out of balance), but goes away after a few miles as they warm up...and I live in Southern Cal, where it hardly ever goes below 50F. My tires are definitely not under inflated - 33psi Front and Rear. I even tried running them at 35psi a few weeks to see if it would solved the problem, which it didn't. I'm currently on the Latitudes (only about 3k miles), which have a narrower contact patch...translating into lower rolling resistance. I'll just have to see how long these Michelin last. Performance and look wise, I definitely preferred the Pirelli over the Michelin (the Michelin are screaming over corners where previously the Pirelli had stayed quiet).
