In addition to the belt squeal and window shades, here is what I am planning to add to the list for the dealer: - rotors and pads - brake fluid - trans fluid - control arms - CV boots They may not need to do any actual work on any of the above, but it won't hurt for them to take a look. I came very close to breaking my sunroof over the weekend by straping surfboards to the roof and putting a decent amount of pressure directly on the glass. My front rack crossbar (homemade) failed, so I basically had to strap three boards directly on the glass for the trip home. I was very relieved that everything worked properly after I got the boards off. |

Unfortunately unless the rotors, pads, and brake fluid are due for service they won't be changed, but as you said, doesn't hurt to ask them to check...though be prepared if they tell you that all that will be checked during Inspection I/II. Trans fluid won't get done for free. If you want it done you'll have to pay for it. Control arms / CV joints / boots are also a good idea.
I'd focus on driveability issues, transmission, etc. to get anything important documented, otherwise go over wear and tear stuff like interior trim that isn't covered under CPO, because you'll be stuck with it if it's busted unless you want to shell out serious cash. Oh, electronics too....nav system, radios, cd changers, etc. all not covered under CPO. Last edited by X5 Meister; 03-24-2009 at 03:36 AM. |

bummer - the dealership informed me that my warranty expired 14 days ago. I didn't buy it there, so it is my fault for missing the deadline. I might get the squeak repaired, but none of the other items. Oh, and now I am subject to a $50 deductable.

Whenever you have a service visit the paperwork will show you the date the car was put in service. Four years to the date after that date is when it expires. You never checked?

At least you have extended warranty. When you get your work done, if there are other things ask if they can do them under goodwill.
