1)Will it cause wear down of rotors and pads faster? 2)MPG will decrease or stay same? 3)Acceleration decrease or same? 4)Stop distance increase or decrease? 5)Any other pros and cons. Thanks. I know there are many posts about that, but i want the most updated info. |

Just curious, why would you think acceleration, stopping distance, mpg etc. would improve? You somehow are going to bypass basic physics when you slap on larger wheels?

i never said MPG will increase,i hoping to hear it stay same rather than imporve. acceleration is same way,no impove just either slower or hopefully same. bigger rims = harder to stop by tiny caliper, but at the same time wider tires,so it should cut stopping distance. so read my questions again, and then say answer

I never said increase, I said 'improve' so read my reply/answer again.

I would also bet that the differences in acceleration, stopping distances and and MPG's will be so small that you won't be able to tell. Not saying there won't be a difference, because the heavier wheels will affect acceleration, stopping distances and wear and tear on the pads/rotos, but it will be so small that you will most likely not notice. If you can stand a little more harsh ride, the looks will more than make up for it, IMO. |

X5 is very stiff already with 17",but 20" look so great on a car IMO. so i think it worth even ride quality will be a bit worse :-)
Will it have any increase on wear of suspension? |

The main factors that will determine whether performance is affected are (1) change in unsprung weight (2) change in overall diameter (3) change in rolling resistance. You'll have to ensure that the new setup weighs the same, is the same height and the tires have no more aggressive or "sticky" tread than you have already to avoid a performance penalty. I haven't done this particular swap, but I am fairly confident you will have an increase in unsprung weight from the wheels and likely higher rolling resistance from the tires. I have a set of Range Rover wheels I use for part of the year, and they are 19" (255x55x19 Michelen 4x4 Synchrone tires). When I put them on, I can feel a noticeable difference - a little slower acceleration, a little heavier turn-in feel, and MPG suffers a little (1-2mpg). I have the 4.4 engine, so I don't really care about the slight decrease in power or mpg - but you may notice it a little more with the 3.0. I think for the most part you will always give up a little bit in terms of acceleration, deceleration, ride quality, and mpg but you will gain MUCH better appearance and probably noticeably better handling upgrading to 87's with good rubber.

If you think your X is stiff on 17's and no sport suspension, then you may want to think long and hard about putting 20's on.
I am not sure about the suspension wear, but I would think that with the stiffer sidewall of the lower profile tire and heavier weight of the larger rim, it can't make the suspensions job any easier. |

I had Lexus before and it was soft, but now i have bmw x5 with 17 stock on them and very stiff on low speeds, and pretty soft on fast speeds.
