just replaced 2003 4,4i ,sport, 50,000 miles

mine ..cracked two sides first time ( please check other side condition too!!in your car )
Final price at the diller cost me 1420.....(for 2 ) , but
you do have two years warrantly for parts and replacement IF...something happened ( OEM parts price included)
My penny advice ... ( before) buy a cheap one and install , remember - you'll get cheap results also.

Yesterday I heard this sound from the left front wheel... today the sound seemed to get a little louder. I kept thinking that maybe it was something bouncing around in my drivers side door pocket. The sound was more noticable during stop and go traffic. Inspected the wheel today when I got home and the CV Boot had a tear. The tear was about 1 1/2 inches in length. Going to get the Boot replace this coming Saturday.

Maybe it would be a smart thing to just have them all replaced?

RMak , only the front outer boots move and wear due to steering , so only those two should ever need replaced . i think bmw parts would be best .

Cool... cause it would suck having to go back and having the other side repaired if it were to crack/tear soon. Guess I might as well have the right side repaired too.

turned out to be front wheel bearing that was causing the noise.

You're going to need a new joint or driveshaft too since this one has gotten to the point of being this exposed. Assuming you didn't replace it already.

replaced the CV Boot first.
