Negotiating the price. Question for you

I am looking at a 2006 X5 [3.0]. 34,441miles, CPO, great condition. (of course) The asking price a few weeks ago was 33,981. Then it dropped to 31,981. Not it's 29,995. I started working with the dealer on the price when it was 31,981. I wanted him to come to the price that he sold the last X5 at a week before. 27,995. That was the exact same car that they have on the lot now for sale. I've been trying hard to negotiate the price of this vehicle, but the sales guy will not budge. He came back to me this morning with 100.00 off. Making it 29,895. Invoce on this car is 29,500. I think it has till Friday before it's 60days is up. And I assume the price will drop to 27,995. So I'm betting on Friday, Friday that the SAV will be at the price I want. But I'm not 100% sure. My question is, if I offer 29,000 for the vehicle, is that a fair price?
