I would like to try your method of install for the location of the aux. input. I have one question though for you (or others on the board who have used this method) how does one get the wire through the ashtray up to the back of the radio? Do you drill a hole into the bottom of the ashtray or do you remove the plastic lense for the light in the ashtray and route through it?

thanks in advance and happy fathers day to Xoutpost dads.\!

I actually fed the wire "down" from the back of the stereo through to the ashtray. The plastic part of the ashtray pulls out easily, give you some room to fish the wire out as you feed it behind the console area. It just takes a little fidgeting around to get the wire worked down there, not something that will be show stopper for you. Good luck!

thanks much I just finished it up (did not take this long to complete from this morning though I had to take a break and just got back to it about 1/2 hour ago).

for any others attempting your description is quite good. I also found it easier to fish the line through if you remove the climate control module as well as doing so will give you a couple of extra inches of space to work with and I was actually able to reach up through the ashtray area and pull the wire down.

I get the aux choice now when I scroll through using the mode button so I guess it will work when I finally hook it up (I thought I would have more time to complete and be able to fit in a trip to buy the line out cable but....).

what are you using as a connection?

thanks again to you (and other who replied) for all their help.
