Did it work? I had a shop replace my mirror puddle lamps with T10 leds and left the shop without checking their operation. When I got home I remembered and checked and they didnt work. Then I tried to open them back again and saw the shop basically destroyed all the retaining clips of my driver's side mirror and then I guess they were able to open the second side without breaking ALL the clips. They glued the d/s mirror closed and the glue was still wet when I opened the mirror to see what was going on.
Anyway, it seems the led's wont light up for some reason. They flash for like a second but that was all I could get them to do. The regular t10 bulbs worked when I reinstalled them into the mirrors. I also tested the leds in my overhead map lights and they worked as well. So must be some kind of glitch, at least in my X.

when the covers are out, test the lights by unlocking and locking the doors. when the car is locked, simply pressing the lock button on the remote should activate the puddle lights (with the interior lights). try to turn the bulb around, although I believe these bulbs should be able to be installed both ways. try the old bulbs again to see if they still work. if so, it's your type of bulb. could you post a picture / link of the bulbs you purchased. the ones I got (look a few posts back) work perfect. there are 3 led's, and I didn't worry about which way I installed them. |

I know this thread is very old but if someone can please let me know if I can use these bulbs for mirror puddle lights? I have 2003 BMW X5 4.4.i.
168 194 2825 High Power LED Bulbs For Parking Lights, Back Up Lights Would this cause any error? There are more powerful ones available too which are 2W - 168 194 2825 2W High Power LED Bulbs For License Plate, Interior Lights Or I would be better of with 1W bulbs only - 168 194 2825 1W High Power LED Bulbs For License Plate, Interior Lights Thanks in advance. |

only buy a bulb that has the light facing downward. The 2W with the 3 small LED facing off to the side will be useless to you since those small 3 LEDs will be hidden inside the enclosure.
wither the 1 or 1.5w. and the 1w bulbs are about $1 on e-bay... just an fyi.

You need canbus 194s for this, as the car will shut them off otherwise.

Any particular links for this please? Also using bulbs greater than 1W power will create any issues?
