My New X5 4.6 pics and vids, Also some Questions

Hey Everyone,

I did already start a post that I had bought an X5 4.6. I had it shipped from Florida and purchased the car on the internet, only saw pictures and talked to the seller. Shipping was an issue, but I finally got the X5.

I will also confess up front that I am a mod junkie and stock just isn't god enough. Don't worry as everything I do is in taste and most likely has some performance benefit. In fact I have had the car all of 3 days and already have installed the K&N Panel filter, soon to be a Dinan intake and some all weather floor mats that a bought from a member here.

Just got the car registered, personal plate, paid the sales tax , and got it smogged.

I am posting some pics for comments and a couple of video's that maybe a few of you technical guys can help out with. OK enough talk.

Now for the videos with questions. This video is of the engine at idle. To me it sounds like something is out of adjustment, maybe its normal, but my 745 doesn't make this noise at idle.

This video is of the exhaust. Its all stock, but it sounds sick to me, not sick in a good way. Does this sound normal?

Next mod is the xpipe. This will be going on later this week. I do plan on taking it to my local indy dealer this week as well and just have them look it over. Any suggestions on what to look for in a good indy dealer?

Thanks guys and girls for any feedback. I look forward to learning and sharing here in the X5world.

Great shots. You have in my opinion the best interior released on any X5, ever.

Nice looking ride. Love the dark grey interior. Are those 87's in 19" ??

Now I'm no mechanic but both the engine and exhaust just doesn't sound right. You need someone like Weasel, JCL etc to pass a more informed comment.

You're a braver man than me, 'cause I couldn't buy an X5 over the internet after just looking at pics. Couldn't you have got an independant inspection done by a nationally/multi state recognised organisation before actually purchasing ??

I hope the above issues aren't big ticket items.

Good luck and safe driving

Located in Simi Valley. I would like to go to bimmerfest but I have plans on that Saturday which take up most of the day. How long does bimmerfest last?

You have a very nice stable of cars, sir.

OK, exhaust sounds better now. Found the intake tube was loose at the throttle body and was sucking air from outside the tube.

Just had an indy dealer check it out as well. He doesn't think anything is wrong but recommended an oil change. I will do this in a few days. Just ordered some royal purple 10-40.

Xpipe should be installed this Friday.
