Did carbon black have the same $2500 upcharge that imola red did?

Carbon black is cool b/c, as its name implies, it has those carbon paper color tones to it (bluish at one angle, black at another). Add in that it is a metallic paint and it can be spectacular in the correct light.

Now if it only came with the fresh off the mimeograph machine smell!

I too think the color is awesome -- but no warranty, has a production date of 09/05 -- my 2005 X has 06/05 and was sold to me with 38k miles, all options except load floor with CPO, remaining factory warranty and the extended maintenance plan out the door for $29k back in December 2008 (BMW also had the .9% finance and two payments included at that time) -- for the BIN price to be $32k because of a paint job, to me, that's overpriced.

Santa Monica BMW had a carbon black 2006 4.4 about 3 months ago with all options, CPO, still remaining factory warranty and 16k miles for $37k -- that is a heck of a lot better deal the "buy it now" (most likely his reserve price) this dealer is asking....

Not trying to debate the specifics on color, but to each his own. I would rather get a 4.8is for that price...

When the paper is still damp. Ahh, the smell of grammar school.

*Sitting back waiting for the youngins to ask what a mimeograph is*

Best color ever, had it on my M3. Awesome!

55K on a 3 year old ride isn't so bad, little over 15K a year.

Adjust your monitor dude, the colors ain't the same. To really appreciate you have to see it in person, it's amazing.

Two more of CARBON black metallic.

Unfortunately, you need the right type of shot to really capture the true effect of Carbon Black. To really appreciate the color, you need to see it in all types of light, and both dirty and clean. It took a different shade/color in each situation. Truely amazing color. When moving, it had a color change effect.

Whenever I freshly Zaino'ed my M3, I always had people asking me to roll down my window so they can question what color is that?

Some "dynamic color" pics of my former baby.....

Dark Blue in Overcast.....

Midnight Blue-Purple in Street Light....

Violet.....

Mystic Blue/Metallic....

your "black"

and straight blue....

I love carbon black. It's a different color. In some lights it looks dark blue and in others it looks black.

My e46 M3 is carbon black.
