Anyone changed the brake protection plates before?

I don't know if anyone has asked this but has anyone changed part #3 in the diagram below? I want to change mine since it is rusty and a little bent. I'm not looking for a DIY, i am just wondering if when i get my rotors and pads changed i could get these replaced at the same time? Thanks

i haven't needed to replace the plates but i'm sure it can be done when the other work is done.

To get that off the only extra work needed with the rotors off is to remove the e-brake pads and springs then 4 small bolts. They are set up like mini drum brakes in the center of the rotor, so if you are familiar with drum brakes would be an easy task for ya.

Thanks Weasel, I understand what you mean with the mini drum break setup.

Are the fronts easy to do as well?

Come to think of it, I remember the fronts being trapped in with the hub plate... the rears might be as well, but it's been a while since I've changed front hub bearings and I don't think I ever changed rears. When I get time later I'll look up the labor operations for conformation.

Just to update this thread, i got all 4 rotors and pads replaced today.

For the rear protection plates it is exactly as you mentioned earlier, so i got those swapped out. They look nice now.

As for the front protection plates, it requires replacing the hub and bearing, i will be ordering those parts and then i can get the front protection plates replaced.
