Cool Auxilliary ventillation

I have just treated myself to an 02 3.0D Sport and so far I'm really liking it.

Can anyone help with the following though?

Auxilliary ventillation. I'm I getting this wrong or should this not warm the car up in the morning when you set the timers to come on? With the timers set the fan starts but only luke warm air comes out. The car doesn't seem to want to let me turn it on 'direct' neither. The manual reads as if you should be able to turn on the heating with it if it's less then 16 degrees outside. Am I missing something with this?

On a seperate note. Is it possible to override the TV so the wife can watch it in the passenger seat when we're driving along?

Any help would be great. Thanks
