So the SM told me to put the key in position 2 and wait about an hr. My car is sitting in the driveway with the key in it. Hopefully no one takes it.

Don't think that will be a problem... Sorry, couldn't resist.

Let us know if it works out for you.

Well sitting in car waiting. Should I try and crank or should code screen go away?

So no luck. Maybe tried too many times with the code. I've left it for an hr, i've left it for 10 min. haven't tried the code since unlplugging the battery.

Suggestions? Is my next step to dealer? Is the car in full antitheft mode and shut down?

hmmm Nav omputer? I just installed the TV module too - so i might still have video. Think the nav computer would have anything to do with it? I read (other bmw forums) that the code is coming from the computer, thats why car wont start. So not necessarily coming from radio.

I'll give it a try. Battery is dead now i think, monitor wasn't coming on earlier. I really don't want to have to tow this thing. Will the dealer send a rep with the computer? LOL

hi , you input the code in the on board computer , that is also the radio tv screen etc .

I am thinking if you disconnect this computer , it cant send any signal to the ews and ecu , and your key is a good working key , it should start .

Old BMW hidden secutiry system.....love to use is!

When all else fails......

If you are in lock out and dont recall the code......

To Reset:
must leave car on key position 1 for 60 minutes
then turn off
try to restart.

Some cars require key position 2 for 60 minutes.

Good luck,

Ok - key in position 1. My battery is dying though. So i'll have to get a new battery when i go to dealer. I don't want to trust the battery.

I'd disconnect the battery for about an hour, and have it charging while dissconnected. Once all internal capacitors are fully discharged it may forget the code memory... If when you hook it all back up it still asks for the code, just let the 15 minute timer on the screen time out and it may start then... hopefully

So who accidently hit the code button on the nav screen?
