Check fog light warning. hid fogs: JLEVI need help

Jlevi,

Just installed the hid fog lights from you and they work great. I just have few problems I'd like to address that I hope you can help solve for me.

1. Lights flicker every time I turn it on. They flicker for about 20 seconds then remain stable. How do I eliminate this or does the kit need "breaking in"?

2. "Check fog light" warning appears every time I start the car and also disappears after 20 seconds. Is there anything I can do to get this warning off. I was told that this problem shouldn't appear with this kit.

The reason why I'm concerned about this is because I'm bringing in the X to the stealer for transmission program upgrade/update and to have the engine oil changed. I don't want them making an issue out of the check light problem which could possibly end up in voiding my warranty. Anyway I mounted the kit in such a way that I could easily put back the halogens just incase I worry too much whether they want to void my warranty because of that "check fog light problem"

Please advise me what to do. I'd appreciate that.

The reason the check light warning is coming on is because the Halogens draw 12v whereas the HID kit draws around 4v. The computer gets tripped up by this issue. You can install a resistor (from www.bekkers.com) to change the draw on the current or you can just turn the fogs on before you turn the car on.

180$ for a pair basically.. i dont think thats fair, considering i bought a product that i for sure thought was going to be "plug N play" without any other modifications to it. Maybe this should have came as a part of a package for like 30-60$ more at the most..

I agree. One of the representatives reassured me that the checklight problem would not occur. It turned out it did. Next, it is ridiculous for us to spend almost $200 to get those parts for our problems to be solved (For another $100 we can get another hid kit) Those relays probably costs $5 to produce at the most. If you offered those parts for another $30-60 a set as mentioned by imola4.8, then that would be fair.

If there's absolutely nothing you can do to help us solve this problem then I'll live with it; provided that if the bulbs, ballasts, or igniters fail because of that flickering start, which most probably deteriorates the life of the hid kit, then I'd like you guys to honor the warranty and replace the parts that got worn out without giving us a hard time.

OH yea, Thanks drex for the link. Although you say its easy, when it comes to electricals and wirings like those, I'm bad at it. And I'm not too much of a know how when it comes to that. That could be one of my shortcomings.

my shop did a hid fog conversion for me..my warning comes on then goes off in about 5sec. no biggie...i'm dealiong w/ warranty issues and i told them to ignore it and they said fine. unless they can prove what you did is the DIRECT cause of theb fault(if any yr fine)

my shop set it up so my fogs come on as soon as i turn on headlights ,and i can have hid lows, halogen highs, AND hid fogs all on at the same time for hwy drivin....if i want the fogs off i simply PRESS the FOG light BUTTON.....i love this set up!!!! i dont use jlevi kits..simply used OEM equipment(off ebay) and my shop installs flawlessly.

what about the life-time of the lights, ballasts, ignitors etc.. Would they last just as long, even if the "regular day"occurance of them flashing whenever i turn them on?

anytime you change the electrical dynamics of the X5, you are bound to set off warning lights.

check out the above for the $5 fix per side for the problem. no need to pay $180 for 2 resistor packs.

easy to fix!
