Mine is an '04 3.0d. Was told that I won't get much change out of a NZ$1000 for one side to replace the unit. I think I can manage without the mirror folding back

An '06 should still be under warranty... and the mirrors are covered.
As are other maintenance. Take it in.

While I was there, they found some leaking(slightly wet) PS hoses, and replaced them. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

Your cars mileage seems too low to have any serious transmission problems.
hey man, i tried what u said but it still kept folding back out?? i dont get it?

Same here. I just don't use it. It is frustrating though. I know the microswitch on mine is in working order. What I don't know is whether bending/straightening the microswitch metal strip will help. Someone? I did have it working for a while but I think the tolerance between working and not working is next to nothing

also, because i am somewhat of a novice to the bmw community (i've been trying my best to learn through the forums) i was also wondering, when i drive the x5 and floor the gas, it seems as though the engine would almost stall for a second and it would jerk is this normal? i have a friend who tells me this is a problem with the transmission, that that true? all the while it seems as though the x5 occcasionally is a little sluggish, i saw a post on that a few months earlier, but at the time i was not familiar with the x5 to note any difference, solutions to the problem? thank you so much!
if you still have warranty on ur x5 take it in asap just got my mirrors done
total was 3000cdn$ how ever if you out of luck, few members alredy posted how to get it fixed, good luck.

The way warranty works is work can not be upsold by the tech, unless it is a safety item. There has to be a customer complaint regaurding it. So the better a list you write, the better for you as far as getting things fixed. I have to let cars go with obvious problems sometimes because I'm not allowed to fix it on my own. I just say "I can't believe they didn't complain about this!?"
